Every place of work, vehicle, school, or home should have a complete up to date first aid kit. Most of the needs for first aid in most places of business or home are minor, but very necessary to take care of the injury. Immediate cleaning, dressing, covering of a wound is optimal to assure healing without an infection setting in. Sometimes the wound is a simple cut. Not taking care of it quickly could lead to complications. Burns that are treated quickly start providing relief from the associated pain. Removal and treatment of an area that has a splinter provides relief, and lessens the possibility of infection. In the case of a sprain or break, immobility should be used until professional treatment can be obtained. In the case of uncontrolled bleeding, materials are supplied to stop the bleeding.
All organizations should have a person assigned to monitor what is needed to refresh the First Aid Kit to ensure all supplies are fresh, and available. Further more there should be one place the kit is kept, that is always available for the time it is needed.
The First Aid Kit is a necessary companion wherever there are people. Also check into first aid classes which are offered in many places. This will keep you ready for any emergency, big or small.
